FAQ ~ Frequently Asked Questions
AUDIENCE QUESTIONS
What are ‘transaction fees’ and how much are they?
In 2021 Darwin Fringe started charging transfer fees for all tickets sales to help begin trying to cover the time that it takes our team to process and manage these transactions. This fee allows us to charge artists less which prompts the creation of more work.
Buying tickets via our website = $1.5
Buying tickets over the phone or at our box office = $2.5
Do you accept Companion Cards?
YES! The card allows your chosen companion or carer to go with you to participating entertainment, recreation venues and activities without paying for a ticket. Just bring the card with you. For booking select the Companion Card option when checking out and bring the card with you to the show.
What do you consider a concession?
Students, pensioners and other concession holders can access this ticketing price. Just bring your appropriate card with you.
Can I be a volunteer with the festival?
Yes! We love new people joining the Darwin Fringe Family. However you must be over 18. Sign up here.
When does Darwin Fringe recruit staff?
Our team is made up of only a handful of paid positions, most of which are currently filled. When special project coordinator roles pop-up or box office work becomes available we will post this on our website, newsletter and socials in the lead up to the festival.
I’m an Artist, how can I get involved?
Darwin Fringe Festival is proudly open-access, so ANYONE can join in. Sign up to our eNews to be the first to know when 2023 artist registrations come out.
How do I buy tickets?
After the program is released you will be able to buy tickets online. From June we will be running our in person Box Office in the city and at select weekend markets. During the festival this Box Office will be located within the Brown’s Mart Precinct. If not otherwise sold out, most shows will also sell tickets on the door. Please note that all tickets for the Darwin Entertainment Centre will need to be purchased via their system.
When should I arrive to see the show?
At least 10 minute before the event. Wants to grabs drinks and snack? Arrive even earlier!

How do I get my show into your program?
You can either apply for a curated spot in the Hub or in the General Application round. We do not buy or purchase work due to a lack of funds.
