The Calamitous Tragedy of the Emperor of Kuta Beach (a rehearsed play reading) by William York

July 19 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

I was once stuck in Bali with my family due to the volcano, Mount Agung, erupting. Our flights were cancelled and what ensued was my family becoming agitated and aggressive towards each other. I could not understand how the dynamic changed as soon as we knew we were trapped.

As the play progress, it becomes more theatrical. Characters becoming multi-layered, utilizing theatrical elements such as monologues, etc. It eventuates into some type of contemporary Shakespearean tragedy. As for when I was trapped, I felt my situation becoming one as well.
