Deaf Bridges
July 18 @ 7:45 pm - 8:45 pm

Deaf Bridges is a show that attempts to build a bridge between the Deaf and hearing worlds through comedy. This show is for both hearing and Deaf audiences and is presented in English (and Auslan) with an Auslan interpreter. Audiences will hear stories about sign language interpreting Deaf culture and community, Auslan and hearing people and will learn some sign language in preparation for the Deaf revolution. If you ever wanted to become fluent in Auslan then this show is guaranteed to keep that dream alive. Most of the Auslan you will learn in this show will be swear words so you can show your boss what you learnt. The Deaf abides.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Ben Richardson is a stand-up comedian from Tasmania. He has been performing comedy around Australia since 2002 when he was in the RAW comedy national final doing jokes about having a Deaf mum and knowing sign language. Ben has come a long way since then and now does jokes about having a Deaf mum and being a sign language interpreter. Having a Deaf mum makes Ben a CODA (Child of a Deaf Adult). He has grown up as a hearing person with a Deaf mum. His life is very similar to the movie CODA except he was never an American teenage girl with dreams of singing.
