Bear Hug

July 20 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Bear Hug is a staged reading of a new play in development, blending live performance with soundscape. It explores the whirlwind beginning and slow unravelling of a toxic relationship.

Jake, a 37-year-old drifter, feels an instant connection when he first lays eyes on Imogen, a 27-year-old Autistic woman. Both of them yearn for intimacy, but is their relationship doomed from the start? Bear Hug is an exploration of what happens when we refuse to see the person in front of us and instead attempt to mould them to fit our “ideal”.

Bear Hug is written by Zan Kerhsaw. It explores themes of neurodivergence, masculinity and the delicate balance between intimacy and autonomy.
