Brown's Mart Courtyard/ Civic Park/ Town Hall Ruins

Courtyard, Civic Park* and Town Hall Ruins set up is created out of one staging panel and a small PA. These are both open-air venues with no lighting. The courtyard and civic park comes with access to:
– A qualified technician for rehearsals and the execution of the show.
– Small PA
– 1 x microphone
– 2 x Instrument DI

If your show will require more than one staging panel please request the additional space below.

Opening Night

The Opening Night stage will be set up inside the Studio with the roller doors open.
– Full lighting & sound rig to cover all acts.
– A qualified technician for rehearsals and the execution of the show.
– A sound system.
– 2 x microphones
– 2 x Instrument DI
– Artists need to be available for a soundcheck on the Thursday night (July 11th) or Friday day (July 12th).

Dom's Bar & Lounge

The generic set up will give you one microphone with a stand connected to a PA with basic lighting.

Whilst flexible in terms of what’s possible, generally the stage area available at Dom’s is 1.8m x 4m with a 3m high roof.

Please note that we cannot supply lapel headphones to Dom’s Bar & Lounge.

Will you need a drum set in your show?(Required)

We have access to the Happy Yess drum kit which may be used as a shared backline to minimise install etc. However the status of the kit is still being confirmed.

Music Licensing

If your Darwin Fringe event contains music (including recorded and live music) that was not made by you, you will need to obtain a licence from OneMusic Australia to ensure you have the correct permissions to use the music in accordance with the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth).

Darwin Fringe Festival does not have a central licensing arrangement with OneMusic Australia (APRA AMCOS and PPCA) to cover the music you plan to use in your show. Therefore, as a presenter, if you use music, you are individually responsible for ensuring you have licences in place prior to the commencement of your show.

Your licence will cover the public performance copyright of the various parties that created and own the music. In this way you do not have to contact the individual owners of each piece of music you wish to use in your show.

We do not have the capacity to police this and and so all responsibility falls on the show Producer. If you have any concerns or queries please reach out.

Risk Assesment

We are aware that some Risk decisions may change in the final weeks before the performance, if anything changes you just need to let Production know ASAP.

Recording your show

Where a performance is to be recorded or transmitted by any means, including but not limited to radio or television transmission or film, video or audio recording, and whether transmitted live or recorded for later transmission, exhibition, distribution or sale, all production employees who perform work on that performance will receive a single payment recording allowance of $164.14 in addition to the rate they would otherwise have received for that performance. Especially if they are broadcasted in their entirety. You do not have to pay a fee for archival footage.

This fee is stated to be per applicable technician, following the below rubrik:
★ Video recording, no audio: Lighting and Stage Management Techs = $328.28
★ Video recording and audio recording: Lighting, Stage management, and Audio Techs = $492.42
★ Audio recording, no video: Audio Technician = $164.14

If you do wish to record your show you will have an opportunity to confirm this with us during your rehearsal. We can coordinate for your allowance to be paid out of your box office through our system to the technician.

You will also need to hire your own videographer as Fringe tries to have as many shows as possible documented through images and videos however we cannot promise anything sorry due to costs. If we do capture anything we can provide you with copies but please do not rely on it.

Final bits

What is the set of the show?

How will the stage be set up and how many props will you bring? What will be on stage eg. furniture, props etc. If possible list where you would like it placed on stage eg. drum kit at the back to the left. We have very minimal storage capacity so please let us know if you expect to be leaving things on site between shows.

Would you like to sell merch after your show/ performance?(Required)

We have limited facilities but if you’d like to sell some merch we can supply a table and tablecloth for up to 45 minutes. Keep in mind that we may need to rotate you out when the next show/ performance finishes and wants to sell their own merch. You will need to provide everything else for example eftpos or cash float.
