Midwife Crisis
July 13 @ 6:00 pm - 6:50 pm

Sarah Stewart’s past 40 years have been a roller-coaster of birthing babies, corralling a hopeless husband, and wondering where her kids ‘parked’ themselves this time. Now, on the wrong side of 60, she’s traded delivery rooms for bucket lists and swapped forceps for funeral plans (organized in a Google Doc, naturally). This seasoned midwife will be dishing the dirt on life, love, and the Labour Ward.
Sarah’s been selling out standup comedy shows like hot scones at a Country Women’s Association meeting, including her debut solo show at the North Australian Festival of Arts in October 2024 and this year’s Adelaide Fringe Festival.
“When she speaks of some of the techniques used to clear mucus from a baby’s lungs the audience reaction is part shock, part horror, and very funny.” Fifty+SA 4.5 stars Adelaide Fringe Festival
“this level of entertainment is so rare…..rude and risque” Canberra City News
“startling stories” BMA Magazine
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Sarah Stewart is a midwife, story-teller and comedian. Sarah has been doing stand up for the last 4 years and is now a regular on the Canberra and Sydney comedy scenes. Originally, Sarah was a member of the 4-woman show “The Women’s Room” which had several sold out seasons at the Canberra Comedy Festival and was nominated for “Best in Comedy” at the 2023 Sydney Fringe Comedy. In 2024, Sarah partnered with Caitlin Maggs in a show “Before and After” in a sold out season at the Canberra Comedy Festival. Sarah has debuted her first solo “Midwife Crisis” to sold out audiences in Canberra, North Australian Festival of Arts and the 2025 Adelaide Fringe Festival. Sarah is passionate about using comedy to break down taboos about aging and death, and to poke fun at her much-maligned husband and children.
