Gravy Train Live at the Darwin Entertainment Centre
July 19 @ 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm

Darwin Entertainment Centre and Darwin Fringe Festival present
Darwin’s very own Gravy Train is coming to Darwin Entertainment Centre, rolling onto the Studio Theatre stage at full momentum for the 2025 Darwin Fringe Festival.
James “Gravy” Brown has carved out a reputation as one of Australia’s most dynamic solo guitarists. With a decade-long career that has taken him from London to Melbourne and across Japan – with over 150 shows in Tokyo alone – Gravy returns to his hometown stage with something special.
Known for his percussive fingerstyle approach – where rhythm, melody, and body percussion all flow from a single acoustic guitar – he blends raw energy with refined musicality, fusing acoustic and electric sets into a sound and performance unlike any other. This show marks his biggest Darwin performance to date.
Gravy has been featured on national festival stages and radio, but this Fringe Festival slot here at the Centre is his personal standout for 2025. Expect a powerful and immersive showcase filled with original compositions, ambient textures, explosive slap rhythms, and high-energy electric guitar moments.
Whether it’s intricate harmonics or thunderous grooves, Gravy’s one-man performance feels like a full band in motion. It’s a rare opportunity to catch this local legend in a focused, ticketed setting – up close and fully unleashed.
Bring your ears, your crew, and your curiosity. This isn’t just another live gig. It’s a statement. One night only. All aboard.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Gravy Train is the solo project of James Gravy Brown, a Darwin-based guitarist known for his high-energy, genre-blending performances.
Born in Australia and raised in the UK, James began his musical journey on drums before switching to guitar at 16, teaching himself with relentless dedication. He performed for years in London’s local music scene before returning to Australia, where Gravy Train was born.
In 2016, he toured Melbourne and recorded an album with Japanese percussionist Kenji Azuma. The pair went on to play over 150 shows in Tokyo. Since then, Gravy Train has become a staple of the Darwin music scene, blending percussive fingerstyle, live looping, and searing electric guitar into an immersive one-man instrumental experience.
Gravy is known for his raw, passionate performances and deep connection to the stage.
