Experience an unforgettable evening of musical storytelling as acclaimed guitarist Ben Lahring takes you on a journey through the places and landscapes that have shaped his artistry. Featuring his original works, the program includes “Darwin Maninya,” a vibrant celebration of Australia’s Top End, and “Arboretum,” a powerful fusion of creativity and emotion inspired by the breathtaking Canadian Rocky Mountains. Lahring will also showcase exceptional new Canadian compositions from the MusiCurate catalogue, a publishing company he leads alongside his roles as a performer and faculty member at Ambrose University. This dynamic concert merges lyrical sensitivity with virtuosic technique, offering an engaging and memorable experience for all.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Ben Lahring’s musical journey spans from Australia’s tropical north to international acclaim, lauded for his “absolutely beautiful” interpretations (Liona Boyd) and a unique gift for capturing musical intent. An Associate Composer with the Canadian Music Centre and an adjudicator with the Royal Conservatory, Lahring also teaches guitar at Ambrose University and Mount Royal University. He’s known for his bold musical explorations, from a solo residency in Sydney to orchestra pits and New York’s guitar scene, where he released his debut album. His latest release, *Driftwood*, has been hailed as “a work of originality and shimmering beauty” (Vivascene). Supported by Calgary Arts, Lahring’s concerts feature his own compositions and beloved pieces from around the world. His works are increasingly performed in Canada, including premieres for guitar orchestra, quartet, and solo instruments, and reflect a deep, eclectic artistry shaped by his global experiences.
