Divine Steps: A Celebration of Classical Indian Dance
Experience an enchanting evening of rhythm, grace, and storytelling as a vibrant ensemble of classical dancers comes together to present Divine Steps — a magnificent showcase of three of India’s most revered classical dance traditions: Bharatanatyam, Odissi, and Kathak. This special performance features captivating group pieces, including one by our budding youth performers.
Don’t miss this dynamic celebration of classical Indian dance — a powerful fusion of tradition and teamwork, where the elegance of Bharatanatyam, the fluidity of Odissi, and the rhythm of Kathak come together in perfect harmony.
- Bharatanatyam | Originating from Tamil Nadu, Bharatanatyam is one of the oldest classical dance forms of India. Characterized by its precise footwork, strong geometric movements, and expressive facial expressions (abhinaya), it is deeply rooted in temple traditions and spiritual storytelling.
- Odissi | Hailing from the eastern state of Odisha, Odissi is known for its lyrical grace, fluid movements, and sculptural poses. With roots in devotional dance rituals, Odissi combines spirituality and sensuality through storytelling drawn from Hindu mythology.
- Kathak | Emerging from the royal courts of North India, Kathak is a dynamic blend of rhythm and narrative. Famous for its intricate footwork, spins (chakkars), and emotive expressions, Kathak weaves tales from epics like the Mahabharata and Ramayana through dance.
