Brown’s Mart Studio is the name of the venue which houses the Happy Yess over the weekends. Happy Yess is the organisation who programs lival music in the space through out the year. Happy Yess is a live music venue that exists to support local, original Darwin music and the artists that create it. We are a not-for-profit arts organisation that runs on love from the dedicated crew of members, artists and volunteers. Created in 2006 to champion the underground, Happy Yess provides a place for bands, songwriters, emcees, DJ’s, producers and artists of all genres, to grow and experiment in a beautiful venue and for locals to meet and enjoy live music in a friendly, drama-free environment.

Open every Friday and Saturday night from 9pm until 1am. (Except for the wet-season break). Check the Events page on our FB for what’s on. It could be literally anything! Music includes: Local original Darwin bands, with guests from across the NT, interstate and occasionally overseas. Bands might play rock, electronica, reggae, hip-hop, folk, death metal, roots, weird experimental, or whatever they please. It normally costs between 5 and 10 bucks and most of that money goes directly to the bands.

Always Was, Always will be

Darwin Fringe acknowledges the Kulumbirigin Danggalaba, the Larrakia as the Traditional Owners of Garramilla the land on which we create, play and love.

We recognise your continued connection with the land, water and skies, and pay our respects to your ancestors, elders and community. We extend this respect to all Aboriginal, Torres Strait Island and First Nations people. You are the original artists and creators. We stand in solidarity with your fight for sovereignty and understand that colonisation is ongoing. We at Fringe know that we always have more to learn and do.
