A survivor of Cyclone Tracy, Smith has been deeply involved in commemorating the event, presenting performances such as Cyclone Tracy: Survival Stories at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory as part of the 50th anniversary reflections on the storm that reshaped Darwin. His theatre work blends comedy, music and character performance, including Chaplin-inspired pieces and storytelling drawn from Territory life. A RAW Comedy finalist, Smith has performed regularly in Darwin’s comedy and theatre scene, with his shows selling out seasons at the Darwin Fringe Festival.

Shalom Kaa (Producer) is a multi-award-winning entertainer, producer and director based in Darwin, known for creating bold, heartfelt theatre that blends comedy, music and storytelling. A singer, actor, comedian and master of ceremonies with more than 40 years of stage experience, he has become a prominent figure in the Northern Territory’s performing arts scene.

Shalom’s autobiographical cabaret Purple Plastic Māori premiered at the Darwin Fringe Festival to sold-out audiences and earned multiple honours, including Super Producer (2019) and the People’s Choice Award (2019). He is also a recipient of the Darwin Festival Pomelo Award (2024) and the Spirit of the Fringe Award, recognising his significant contribution to the Territory’s arts community.
