The show mixes comedy\, acoustic guitar\, booster packs\, magic and other spectacles alongside positive and uplifting crowd interactions (unless they are Squirtle fans). \nPLUS everyone who attends receives a free Pokémon card. \nAt the 2025 Adelaide Fringe\, Holographic Charizard pulled the Special Illustration Rare Charizard from Obsidian Flames live on stage. The odds were 1 in 216. He quit his day job and dropped out of uni the next day to become a touring performer and share the glory of Charizard around Australia and the world. \nThe show sold out performances at the 2026 Adelaide Fringe and the 2026 Melbourne International Comedy Festival and is now using Fly (super effective for interstate travel) to finally reach Darwin Fringe. \nYou will hear nostalgic cult classics including A Song About Charizard\, I Choose You Charizard and Why Did You Have To Leave Me Charizard\, along with a song written entirely in Indonesian: Lagu Lagu Charizard Harus Dangdut La. \nPokémon knowledge is not required\, but encouraged. DESCRIPTION:Hear directly from the artist about this sculpture. \n\nAbout the work: \nLeafy organisms grow up the walls of Darwin’s Fringe venues\, spreading day by day\, reflecting the location back through itself. Growth is a temporary\, paper-based\, public sculpture installation created by Darwin based artist Max Paez. Each day throughout Darwin Fringe Festival the sculptures\, emulating the growth of epiphytic ferns found in the Top End\, will continue to grow up the walls at the Fringe Festival Hub (Brown’s Mart Theatre\, Courtyard\, and Studio) and Air Raid Arcade (The Birth of Venus Room\, The Main Room\, Top Floor Comedy Room). Look amongst the leaves and find satellite imagery\, environmental textures and other responses to the location. \n\nThe installation can be found at Brown’s Mart and The Last Supper Pizzeria and can be visited during opening hours. DESCRIPTION:Artist Trading Cards with Moon \nArtist Trading Cards with Moon is a relaxed and slightly chaotic creative workshop where we experiment with different art materials and make small artworks that can be traded with other artists. \nArtist Trading Cards (sometimes called ATCs or ACEOs) are tiny peices of art about the size of a playing card. The idea is pretty simple. You make a small artwork\, and instead of selling it you trade it with someone else. Over time you end up with a little collection of art made by lots of different people. \nThe workshop will start with a short intro about what artist trading cards are and how they work. After that everyone will have about two hours to experiment and create their own cards using a mix of materials like paint\, collage\, pastels and whatever strange supplies I’ve managed to thrift or find. \nMost of the materials used in the workshop are second-hand or recycled where possble\, so every table will have a slightly different mix of things to play with. \nAt the end we’ll take some time to trade cards with each other. DESCRIPTION:Writing about theatre is not simply about deciding whether a production was “good” or “bad”\, but about learning how to observe performance with clarity\, curiosity\, and context. This workshop explores the craft of theatre reviewing through structure\, voice\, analysis\, and ethics\, helping participants develop the confidence to respond thoughtfully to live performance. From acting and direction to design\, atmosphere\, and audience experience\, we will examine how strong reviews balance critical insight with fairness\, while also exploring participants’ distinctive writing style that captures the energy and immediacy of theatre itself. \n\n\nABOUT THE PRESENTER \nFrom his teenage years writing plays to his adult life writing reviews\, plays\, speeches\, interviews\, reports\, journals\, books\, editing\, teaching\, and publishing\, Geoffrey has always loved working with words. \nGeoffrey is a theatre reviewer and feature writer for Stage Whispers\, a role he has had for over 17 years\, and he was a film reviewer for the West Australian Newspaper Group\, reviewing a film a week for six years. His other roles included Founding Arts Editor for ‘Brother/Sister’ and Founding Editor of ‘The Pink Broad’\, while his monthly micro-magazine ‘homo’\, published in Sydney\, Australia\, enjoyed a life of eleven editions. Geoffrey is also currently the Founder and Publishing Curator of thesolotraveller.com.au\, an online portal dedicated to empowering independent travellers around the world. \nTwo of his plays – ‘Maestro’ and ‘Memories\, Melodies and Madness’ – enjoyed world premiere seasons in London\, before their respective seasons in Melbourne\, Australia. DESCRIPTION:Every song is about Charizard (the Pokémon)\, interspersed with stories that take you on a journey of love\, betrayal\, hardship and humour. The show mixes comedy\, acoustic guitar\, booster packs\, magic and other spectacles alongside positive and uplifting crowd interactions (unless they are Squirtle fans). \nPLUS everyone who attends receives a free Pokémon card. \nAt the 2025 Adelaide Fringe\, Holographic Charizard pulled the Special Illustration Rare Charizard from Obsidian Flames live on stage. The odds were 1 in 216. He quit his day job and dropped out of uni the next day to become a touring performer and share the glory of Charizard around Australia and the world. \nThe show sold out performances at the 2026 Adelaide Fringe and the 2026 Melbourne International Comedy Festival and is now using Fly (super effective for interstate travel) to finally reach Darwin Fringe. \nYou will hear nostalgic cult classics including A Song About Charizard\, I Choose You Charizard and Why Did You Have To Leave Me Charizard\, along with a song written entirely in Indonesian: Lagu Lagu Charizard Harus Dangdut La. \nPokémon knowledge is not required\, but encouraged.
