The clitoris is bigger than you think. It is the only organ dedicated just to pleasure! Artists and scientists tell the story of its ‘discovery’. Join us for a cheeky cocktail, provocative film, educational anatomical models and inspiring art works in a classy venue.
The organ of female sexual pleasure. Where did it go? Why did it take so long to be discovered? It is so beautiful! Why weren’t we taught this?
The film normalises female sexuality and shatters lies about female sexual desire, bodies, and power. Artist Sophia Wallace unravels sexual “phallusy” with her ground-breaking “cliteracy” project, proving that the clitoris is as fundamental to female orgasm as it is to sexual equality. Scientists work against the erasure of the clitoris in anatomy textbooks. The links between sexual well-being and physical and mental health are explored.
Northern Territory artists make the case that the way women are viewed sexually in the world cannot be separated from the way they are treated. Sexual freedom is central to human dignity, self-determination, and equality. This is an exhibition with a story. A variety of visual arts, objects and film can be enjoyed. Move over Masters and Johnson, Darwin mob are here! Men and women welcome but perhaps leave the kids at home.
THE SATURDAY SESSION is just for people who have vaginas.
Anatomical Education and Inspired NT
Anatomical Education and Inspired NT have collaborated to produce The Vanishing Clitoris show which is STEM and arts inspired. Anatomical Education and Get Cliterate! are a bunch of health professionals and a 3D designer intent on creating factual models of clitoris. They have sold 1500 models around the world. Professor Helen studied dead women’s bodies to discover the clitoris that was missing in her medical textbooks. Her published scientific work was largely ignored. So, two ‘lady’ scientists and a 3D designer fixed it. Behold. We give you the HUGE clitoris. We are not really fussed who you are having sex with or how you are having sex, as long as you know how to enjoy yourself! Inspiring Australia science builds an awareness and appreciation of science, celebrates the excitement of science and scientific discovery.
