Rapid Creek Artists Collective Open Studio Art Trail
Gurambai is the Larrakia name for Rapid Creek and means elbow, referring to the shape of the creek at the saltwater end, towards the mouth of the creek. The Rapid Creek Artists Collective are a group of creatives deeply grateful to create, live, love, teach and learn on Larrakia Land. Local Artists Allison Dowell, Katie Bradley, Aly de Groot, Russel Mead and Catherine Miles all have diverse and dynamic practices, including – textiles, painting , drawing, ceramics, printmaking and jewellery . They share a passion for the beauty of Gurambai, Rapid Creek, where they create and live within walking distance from one another.
The Rapid Creek Artists Collective invite you to their ‘open studios’ – a rare opportunity to meet the makers in their habitats. Ride, walk, skip, dance or prancersise along laneways and up alleys to take a peek behind the doors and into the minds of 5 marvellous makers.
Discover the inspiration they find under rocks and in the sea to create award winning artworks that celebrate Top End people, plants, places and creatures from where the freshwater meets the sea at Gurambai, Rapid Creek.
