This potassium-packed show peels back the layers of Melba’s childhood and her family’s deep roots in banana plantations. It then ripens into the present day where Melba splits, slips, and peels her way through life with her top banana — her boyfriend/son (dog), aptly named Banana. This journey swings between exhilarating highs, like competing in the celebrity race at the Mitchell Street Mile dressed as a banana, and sobering lows, including banana freckle disease and a devastating diagnosis of fructose intolerance. Be prepared for things to get a little cheeky… you can only talk about bananas for so long before things get improper!
