Looking at me looking at you looking at me
Looking at me looking at you looking at me is a live figure drawing/movement workshop where drawings feed into movement creation and vice versa. We will work through some creative drawing exercises such as non-dominant hand and blind drawing, focusing more on capturing a sense of movement rather than technical accuracy. The drawing exercise will then extend from static poses to capturing brief moments of movement. We will then experiment with interpreting the drawings into new movements and develop a collective drawing piece/series and choreography over the course of the workshop. The workshop seeks to evoke a sense of freedom in your body and in your creative muscles, as well as a conversation on the ever-evolving dynamic between our physical bodies and their visual representations. No drawing/dance background required.
Jing Jin is a multimedia artist with roots in Hong Kong and California. Her work focuses on the uncanniness in everyday landscapes as well the interplay of intimacy and isolation, her past work includes a series of charcoal drawings of the landscape in close-up tropical plants, a dance workshop interpreting the psychological impact of Covid lockdowns, and embroidered drawings tied into a delicate labyrinth.
