Kodivine X VELIA
Kodivine and VELIA come together in Darwin for an exclusive shared show, delivering a feast of new songs with a top shelf band from Alice Springs Mparntwe and Darwin players. Soul-soaking storytelling, bangin’ bass lines and a deep embodied affair with music in its’ barest-bone form. It will absolutely hit you in the feels and create all the love-chaos that only live music creates. Vocal harmonies, horns, jangly drums on tight groove.
VELIA music is a catch all for solo and co-created music in local and digital spaces, from Donna: Second Generation, First Peoples, female.
Kodivine sings you sideways with soul-hooks over RnB groove. Weaving melodies and stories that might be sung, screamed or spat to the cosmos, Kodivine grabs the audience, whether playing solo or fronting their 7ish-piece band. Their songs are honey-smeared political jabs and self-determining war cries.
Following the successful release of their debut solo singles in 2021, Kodivine is rolling with the punches and producing sell out events all around this big, wide land we live on. Based half the time in Mparntwe/Alice Springs, and the other half wishing they were back there, Kodivine is inspired by ecofeminism, the colours and textures of desert country, and practices that connect us with our bodies.
Jazz-school drop-out raised by 90’s girlband harmonies.
