From the Heart FRINGE CLUB 1
18+
From the heart, Central Arrernte country, Stellar Sea presents ‘Songs from the Edge.’ They are a cohort of post-punk eco queers with a kink for planetary survival (and eyeliner).
Stellar Sea is committed to a safe climate and a sustainable future. Drawing on a deep connection to country, creatively the band finds a way out of the despair of destruction and makes art from a personal commitment to making a difference.
With a strong focus on meaningful themes, and promoting powerful female and queer voices, Stellar Sea is unafraid to be fierce, raw and full of hope.
Their compelling on-stage theatricality, original music and co-lead vocalists makes them a bold, captivating and unique act. Followed by a DJ set, dancing and frivolity with DJ Scheiße Minnelli.
Handcuff them to the planet! Stellar Sea thinks stopping global warming is so hot right now!
About the band
Stellar Sea are a cohort of post-punk eco queers. Based in Mparntwe, central desert NT, this creative exploration is led by All Things Peachy (songwriter, lead vocals), in collaboration with Jez Conlon (bass), LJ Devlin (guitar, vocals), Anders Pfeiffer (drums) and Rosie Wild (lead vocals). Stellar Sea’s musical performances are theatrical and unique. The strong vocals elicit harmony, connection, and power. The compelling vocals entwine with the accomplished instrumentation of Jez, LJ and Anders who are all seasoned composers and musicians, performing also as DJ Scheiße Minnelli, LJ and the Treesleepers and The Barons of Tang. Hints of the 90’s and influences like Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Cure, and Savages infuse this band’s dark, new-wave sound.
