Come to the Edge
Come to the Edge!
No, they said, it’s too high.
Come to the Edge!
No, they said, we will fall.
Come to the Edge!
And they came, and we pushed, and they flew.– Christopher Logue
With an evocative soundtrack, quirky characters and aerial choreography, Come to the Edge is a short dance theatre work about diving into the unknown. Come with us to the edge, and find joy in flying off it! As a metaphor for the courage needed to leap beyond our boundaries, the dancers literally fly through the use of aerial harness. An evocative soundtrack by composers including Max Richter, Portico Quartet, Ludovico Einaudi and Nils Frahm inspires and adds to the rich atmosphere.
Dusty Feet Dance Collective aims to create uplifting dance theatre that inspires and provokes. Come to the Edge is created and performed by four women from Mbantua/Alice Springs, with aerial choreography by Strings Attached. The work explores the idea of transformation at each stage of life, and the unexpected joys that can await us when we conquer fears and step forward into the unknown. Contemporary dance meets physical theatre meets poetry – come, take a leap of faith and be moved by Dusty Feet.
About the collective
Dusty Feet Dance Collective was founded in July 2009 to support dance artists from Central Australia with a program of ongoing training, choreographic development, community classes, a youth company and interstate performances. Original works have included Bloodwood (Ausdance iMoves 2010), Dance Jam (open platform and site-specific seasons 2009-13), In the Red (Short Sweet Dance 2012), My Desert is Delicious (2011) and The Tidy Rules of a Comfortable Suburbia (2014). Life changes saw artists of the collective working in multiple roles and transforming through motherhood, injury and travel, until 2021 brought an exciting return to independent practice with the development of Come to the Edge for the Alice Desert Festival.
