A cocoon is, paradoxically, cozy and claustrophobic at the same time. Cocoon is an interactive performance that explores social and physical isolation and disorientation, a common yet often hushed-up part of everyday life until this past year. Part-dance, part-theatre, and part-movement workshop, the performance takes place under a veil and seeks to present lockdown stories in physical terms, whether it be stumbling around blindly, seeking and missing physical contact, or drifting through your days as a (literal) amorphous blob. Audience members will be invited to come on stage, and after a brief workshop that will help develop their movement vocabulary, discover their own expression of the subject individually and in group settings. No dance experience required.
