Take a journey to old Egypt with the Sharqi Dance Troupe and Club Cairo.
In the 1920s a woman named Badia Masabni put Egyptian dance on the stage in her nightclubs in Cairo. She fused it with elements of ballet and theatre to form the roots of the styles of bellydance studied and performed all over the world today. Her clubs presented variety shows that included eastern and western styles of entertainment and were popular with locals and tourists.
Taking inspiration from Badia, the Sharqi Dance Troupe brings you a show featuring local guest stars performing voice, magic and circus acts interspersed with Egyptian classical and folk dances set to the exciting rhythms and exotic melodies of middle eastern music.
Suitable for all ages, Club Cairo has something for everyone, and the Sharqi Dance Troupe has a little comedy surprise in store for you!
Get ready to laugh, cheer and clap along at Club Cairo.
